Jonathan Kiley
With more than 20 years of aeronautical and technical experience in the United States Air Force, Jonathan Kiley has worked on just about everything that hums, spins, or shocks you when you touch it wrong. After two decades surrounded by wires, gears, and checklists, he decided it was time for a different kind of challenge: one involving feathers, fur, and fish instead of flight lines and fuses. Naturally Kiley returned to fly fishing, which his father had introduced him to as a child–and what began as an escape from the grind quickly turned into a full-blown creative obsession and eventually to Fly Skinz (www.flyskinz.com). Since 2012, Kiley has written for top fishing magazines, designed and sold products through Hareline Dubbin, collaborated with other businesses to innovate, and taught fly tying for Project Healing Waters—thereby moving his hobby from the “relaxing” column to something a little more familiar that includes deadlines, students, and product lines. Kiley has fished around the world and now enjoys sharing the experience with his wife Lisa and their three awesome kids. Swing by the Fly Skinz booth or catch Kiley’s seminar at the Featured Fly Tyer’s booth. This is Kiley’s second appearance at the Virginia Fly & Wine!
